CONGRATULATIONS!!!

The 2008-2009 Bay High Steppers won 2nd place in the MHSAA high school dance team competition 4A Pom division!

This was the toughest competition we have seen at MHSAA, with more teams competing than ever before. Our outstanding new team and their new coach, Priscilla Austin, placed 2nd in the state. We are so proud of them!

There were major changes at MHSAA competition this year. Previously, teams could only enter 1 dance, either pom or jazz. This year hip hop and lyrical were added. Additionally, teams could enter more than one category. As a result, the competition was much fiercer than in years past. Our new dance team placed 2nd overall in 4A Pom. What an accomplishment!

Congratulations to Coach Austin, her dance team captains, and all the girls on the team who worked so hard to make this such a successful year.

Over Mardi Gras the team will be traveling to Walt Disney World to perform, as well as to participate in a private dance clinic sponsored by Disney dancers. They will be working very hard over the next few weeks perfecting the show for their biggest audience yet.

Way to go Steppers!

Band Camp Pool Party

Picture Day!

Thursday morning was picture day for the band and Steppers. After a long march from the school to the stadium (which must have seemed impressive to the neighbors) the kids already looked worn out. Everyone took a break and passed around cold water before lining up to have their pictures taken.

First up were the Stepper officers.

It took little coaxing to get Coach Austin in on the fun!
It's going to be a great year!

It always takes five times as long to get everyone where they are supposed to be as it does to take the picture!

A Brand New Year Means It's Time For BAND CAMP!!!

The 2008-2009 school year has officially begun... at least for the Bay High Steppers and the Tiger Pride Band! "Band Camp 2008" has officially begun and as is the case every year at this time, it is HOT!
The girls will join the band in an intense week-long exercise to learn this years halftime show. This years team looks strong and they are enduring the heat pretty well. Keep it up, girls!!!
